ABOUT US
The McKinley Studios was inspired by Larry McKinley. Larry McKinley was a well-known New Orleans-based American music promoter, record label co-owner, radio personality, and festival icon. McKinley was a radio host on station WMRY-FM and later bought the record label Minit Records with his good friend Joe Banashak. He dropped out of the record industry to go back into radio hosting, where he hosted the popular show "The Frank and Larry Show." McKinley was also was a member of the governing board of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, Inc, (also known as Jazzfest). He left the governing board in order to record the voice-overs for the festival, where his voice is still used to this day. McKinley was the master of ceremonies as well for the annual festival gala. McKinley won several awards for his work in the music industry including: the 2005 OffBeat magazine, "Best of the Beat Music Business Award." He was inducted into the AFTRA Hall of Fame for his work in the radio industry as well as the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.
